FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Glen Gardner, NJ: June 18, 2008 Gallery 31 North announces the opening of “The Second Annual Contemporary Art and Antiques” exhibition. Contemporary Art, in a broad range of mediums, will be shown in room setting of antique furniture and accessories. The exhibition will open at Gallery 31 North with a reception from 1 – 4PM on Sunday July 13, 2008 and continue through August 3, 2008. The gallery is located on the ground floor of the Historic Hunt House on the corner of Rt. 31 and Hunt Place, Glen Gardner, NJ; approximately 5 miles north of Clinton. Telephone 908 537 7044. Last year Gallery 31 North and Cottage Treasures of Long Valley, NJ jointly put together an exhibition of Contemporary Art and Decorative Antiques in an in a highly successful event that they felt needed to be repeated. “It was a pleasing eye opener for all attendees as well as the multiple artists that provided the Contemporary Art” says Barnette gallery director.
It was originally presented as an experiment to enlighten the public how well contemporary art can be used with antique furnishings. This years Second Annual is a command performance due to the overwhelming response and request that it be repeated.
Basically the exhibition is the culmination of months of planning during which contemporary art has been selected from 21 well known artists from nearby PA and western NJ with antiques and accessories from Cottage Treasures of Long Valley and Chester, NJ. John Frederick, an interior designer, reviews the contemporary art and based on his analyses, he then selects complementing antique furnishings and accessories from the stock of Cottage Treasures in their five locations and designs room settings using the two components. The outstanding contemporary artists selected for this exhibition work in a broad range of mediums including paintings, prints, sculpture, drawings, and ceramics. Each year a new group of artists are chosen to participate in the presentation. This years artists are:

John Frederick, a nationally known Interior Designer from Long Valley has been featured in national publications and books including, locally, the Hunterdon County Magazine. He has decorated homes on both coasts and was recently featured this year in the Ridgewood NJ Historical Homes Tour having totally designed the entire interior of one of the residences.
